My name is Luke English, and I am a fashion designer who finds inspiration in both the sophistication of the luxury industry and the vibrant energy of street style and culture. I have an unruly passion for design, fashion, music, color theory, human anatomy, language, and the nexus between culture and the visual arts. I take pride in being a multifaceted creative who can pull from different areas for inspiration and direction. Through my industry experience, studying abroad in Florence, Italy, and as a student in the Department of Fashion Design at VCU's School of the Arts, I have learned many things such as how to research, construct, illustrate, conceptualize, and actualize collections. While I do enjoy working in teams and collaborating, perhaps the greatest lesson I have learned is how to rely on myself and my intuition. Through exposing myself to new cultures, environments, and perspectives, whilst staying rooted to what I believe in, I have gained confidence in my capability to design. I know who I am, I am confident, I have the passion, and I am fully prepared to work as hard as I can to achieve my goal of being an influential figure in the fashion industry.
